Financial Background

  • Revamped accounting and data processing functions for troubled Oil & Gas company with exploration and production, gas pipeline, and gas processing subsidiaries and E&P limited partnerships had a history of management problems and accounting was in a shambles.
  • Established internal controls and divided the twenty plus employee accounting department into two groups, one to clean up historic accounting records, and one to assure that current and future accounting would be accurate.
  • Replaced internally developed accounting software running on expensive computer hardware with a proven commercial e&p, pipeline, and gas processing application using significantly less expensive hardware and eliminating need for an IT staff.
  • Recommended establishment of and worked with a senior management committee, including presidents of pipeline and e&p subsidiaries to assure that limited cash resources were optimally used to assure uninterrupted field operations.
  • Commissioned program development for and established invoice tracking from opening of mail, through approval process, and to receipt in accounting.
  • Within a year, cut accounting staff to ten with timely, accurate, and reliable accounting and management reporting.
  • Developed financial model for use in financing and cash flow planning
